The Ora Castori variety is a breeding clone selected as part of a research project on local traditional artichoke populations. The name Ora is a common prefix for a number of clones obtained during this project.

The variety belongs to the Romanesco group and is characterized by a mid-season maturity period, with harvest falling at the end of April. Artichoke heads are of medium size and completely spineless; average marketable yield is approximately 1.0 kg per plant.
