Evergreen plant with upright growth, often forming a bare stem with a cluster of leaves at the apex. Leaves are narrow, linear or lanceolate; the main feature is the presence of a bright crimson border along the edge.

In indoor conditions, the plant reaches a height of 60–80 cm with a crown diameter of 40–60 cm. Annual growth is 10–20 cm. The plant is demanding regarding conditions: it prefers diffused light, well-drained soil, and high air humidity.
