The variety was obtained by crossing Echinodorus aschersonianus and Echinodorus uruguayensis «horemanii rot». The plant is used in aquascaping for the midground and background, possessing an elliptical or lanceolate leaf blade shape.
The height of the bush is usually from 10 to 20 cm, in some cases reaching 30–40 cm. The leaf color changes from deep red to green as the plant matures or under insufficient lighting.
Propagation occurs vegetatively via daughter plants on floral stalks or by rhizome division. To maintain the characteristic red color of the leaves, the variety requires intense lighting.
