Adult plants reach a height of 25–40 cm and form a dense rosette. The leaf blades are wide, with pronounced waviness of the margins. Leaf coloration changes depending on growing conditions: in an aquarium, it varies from rust-red to dark red; in greenhouse conditions, it becomes green.

The variety is a hybrid obtained by crossing the species E. parviflorus and E. barthii, and it is also known in the trade series under the name Dschungelstar Nr. 2. The plant is used for aquascaping the middle and background of aquariums and prefers medium to high light intensity.
