The Darina variety is a Slovenian genotype of common buckwheat, which is actively used in scientific work for molecular genetic analysis, including the use of SSR and RAPD markers. Studies of the variety are often conducted at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana.

Scientific data on the variety focus on its biochemical properties. In particular, the content of rutin in the grain was studied, the values of which can vary depending on crop processing conditions. The variety has a commercial purpose and is used in production.
