The Apalona variety is a perennial tall-growing grass characterized by a powerful root system, stiff wide-linear leaves, and stems from 80 to 160 cm in height. A distinctive morphological feature of the variety is its very long flag leaves.

Due to its ability to withstand trampling, drought, and heat, the variety is used both for forming pastures and producing hay or silage, as well as in grass mixtures for landscaping. The variety demonstrates high dry matter yield performance during agricultural trials.
