The plant is characterized by slow growth, early spring regrowth, and the ability to form a dense, low-growing stand. The variety is resistant to drought, soil salinity, powdery mildew, and rust, and also possesses high winter hardiness and shade tolerance.
Ridu is used for landscaping roadsides, slopes, and banks, as well as in park areas. It is used in lawn mixtures to increase turf density, while rarely being sown as a pure stand.
