Lukana is a diploid variety of meadow fescue with a semi-erect or erect growth type. The plant is characterized by rapid spring growth, good stand density, and late heading dates.
Morphologically, the variety is distinguished by the presence of a long stem, a medium-long or long inflorescence, and a wide flag leaf. In terms of green mass yield, the variety surpasses the Levočská variety.
The variety possesses resistance to rust and good general health status. Due to its rapid regrowth after cutting and high proportion of leaf mass, the variety is suitable for use in hay and pasture grass mixtures.
