The variety was developed by selection from local plant populations and was intended for use as a forage crop for the establishment of hayfields and pastures. In the mid-20th century, it was used in forage production improvement programs in Scandinavian countries and Canada.

The plant is characterized by high yield and good leafiness indicators. The variety possesses adaptability to unfavorable weather conditions and exhibits resistance to rust infection. Currently, it is considered primarily as a genetic resource.
