Rožnovská group varieties were developed in Czechoslovakia in the 1920s at the Research Station for Grassland and Pasture Plants in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. It is a historical variety, which in modern publications is also found under the name Rožnovský in the masculine gender.
The meadow fescue of this variety is classified as a crop for meadow use, in particular for haymaking. The variety is used as part of ecologically stable grass mixtures and regional mixtures intended for the conservation of natural communities, rather than for intensive industrial forage production.
