Variety description

10 August 2026

The Bjelica variety is a traditional folk genotype common in Dalmatia and Istria. The fruits have light green skin and a honey-sweet taste.

Scientific studies note high antioxidant activity of the fruits with a relatively low content of phenolic compounds. The variety is used both fresh and for processing into jams and pastes.

The name can be considered collective for a group of light-fruited fig forms. There are assumptions about synonymy with the Dottato variety, however, the issue requires genetic verification.
