The variety is traditional for the Apulia region and is known under the synonyms Fracazzano nero and Ficazzano russo. The tree has vigorous growth with a spreading or drooping habit. The variety belongs to the bifera group, while it is capable of setting fruit without pollination due to parthenocarpy.
First-crop fruits, harvested in late June or July, are of medium size and neutral taste with red pulp. The primary use for the fruits is fresh consumption. The plant is well-adapted to local Mediterranean growing conditions.
