The variety is an ancient one, historically cultivated in the province of Lecce. The plant belongs to the bifera group, which allows it to form two crops per year: the first in early summer and the main autumn crop, ripening before the beginning of October.
The fruits have yellow-green or lemon-yellow skin and amber-white flesh, distinguished by a sweet taste. The variety belongs to the "common type" and does not require pollination by Blastophaga wasps for fruit set.
