Variety description

10 August 2026

The San Pedro type is characterized by a specific fruiting cycle. The first crop is formed on old wood without the participation of pollinators, whereas the main crop, which ripens on new wood, requires pollination by fig wasps; in their absence, the ovaries of the second crop may drop.

On the market, different forms of figs may be sold under the name San Pietro, including green-fruited and dark purple varieties. Descriptions often indicate large fruits weighing 140–200 g with an egg shape and pink or orange-red flesh, as well as tree heights in the range of 2.5 to 5 meters.

The variety has early ripening terms: breba in July, main crop in September-October. Plants possess drought tolerance, frost resistance down to -15...-20 °C and are suitable for container cultivation. The fruits are used fresh and for making jams.
