Merlan F1 is an everbearing day-neutral hybrid that fruits in waves from May to October. The plant forms compact bushes about 25 cm high with dark green leaves and a pronounced ability to produce pink flowers. The peduncles are long, which causes the ripening fruits to often hang down.
The berries have a mass of 15–25 g, a blunt-conical or conical shape, and possess a sweet taste and pronounced aroma. The variety is characterized by winter hardiness, genetic resistance to diseases, and a weak ability to produce runners, which allows it to be used for dense plantings.
Thanks to its decorative pink flowering, the hybrid is in demand as a berry and ornamental crop for cultivation in containers, hanging baskets, and balcony boxes. In professional production, the variety is valued as early and compact, suitable for cultivation using plug plant technology.
