The plant is a dense bush with leathery dark green leaves with a distinct marbled pattern. It belongs to early-flowering varieties, the flowering period of which usually falls between the end of winter and spring.

The variety is used in ornamental gardening for landscaping shady areas, borders, and group plantings. The plant is poisonous in all parts; upon contact, the sap may cause skin irritation.
