Variety description

The plant forms a compact bush 45–60 cm in height and width. The evergreen leathery foliage of dark green color has a silvery-cream or pink marbled vein pattern at a young age, which turns green over time.

Large wine-red or purple-red flowers with cream stamens are located on strong flower stalks above the foliage level and are directed upward. Flowering is early, starting in late winter or early spring from February to April.

The variety has high growth vigor and is resistant to browsing by deer and rabbits. It is intended for cultivation in partial shade on fertile, moist, and well-drained soils. Like all members of the genus, the plant is toxic if ingested.
