The Christmas Darling variety is a low-growing perennial plant 10 to 40 cm in height. The solitary flowers, 5.5–6 cm in diameter, have a distinctive feature in the form of a greenish center, which is clearly visible immediately after the bud opens.

The flowering period of the plant occurs in the winter months from November to February. The variety possesses frost resistance corresponding to USDA zones 5 and 6. The plant can be used both as a garden crop and for interior decoration as a houseplant.
