The Christmas Glory variety is a cultivar of the species Helleborus niger. The plant has historically been used by breeders as source material for developing forms with larger and taller flower stalks, suitable for the cut flower industry.

The plant's flowers are white, which may take on a pinkish hue with age. Unlike many other Helleborus species, the flowers of this variety are usually upward-facing rather than nodding.
