ActiveHippophae rhamnoides L. · Sea buckthorn
Emmanuel Cabanes
10 August 2026
The variety was obtained through clonal selection from populations of wild-growing sea buckthorn Hippophae rhamnoides var. carpatica. Plants are vigorous; flowering occurs in the second half of April. Fruits are oval-shaped, intensely orange in color, with juicy pulp and a specific aroma. The fruit ripening period falls in September–October.
The variety possesses resistance to specific sea buckthorn diseases. Due to its origin from local wild flora, it is characterized by high ecological plasticity, winter hardiness down to -40°C, and the ability to grow on various types of soils, including poor and saline ones. The variety is suitable for industrial harvesting methods, such as shaking or branch cutting.
