ActiveHordeum vulgare L. · Barley
ULRICH and JOSEF BREUN
10 August 2026
The variety is characterized by early ripening: its vegetation period is on average 8 days shorter compared to the Abava variety. The plants have a short height. Due to the flowering characteristics with closed florets, the variety demonstrates a relatively low level of loose smut infection.
Idumeja belongs to the group of hulled barleys. It is characterized by a consistently high thousand kernel weight, however, a high susceptibility to pre-harvest sprouting is noted. The genetic material of the variety is used in breeding to create crops adapted to the conditions of organic farming.
