The variety has light beige grain, which easily separates from the husk during threshing. Plants are characterized by short height and high resistance to lodging, which contributes to weed suppression by shading the soil surface. The yield of the variety is about 65% of traditional hulled varieties.
The barley is intended primarily for spring sowing, however, autumn sowing is permissible. The variety is susceptible to loose smut, which is why it is often used as a source of infection in breeding experiments. Work is underway to increase resistance to leaf stripe, covered smut, and Fusarium head blight.
