The variety is a six-row spring barley, which was developed in Norway at the Kvithamar breeding station. The plant is characterized as an early-maturing cultivar, adapted to conditions in northern regions, including field trials in Scandinavia and Iceland.
The variety demonstrates increased resistance to lodging and pre-harvest sprouting in the ear compared to a number of other varieties. Studies of the amino acid composition of the grain indicate a high nutritional value of the produce compared to other early-maturing analogs.
