The variety was derived from local Czech samples collected in the Haná region. It was the first officially recognized Czech malting barley variety, which was actively used in malt and beer production in Austria, Germany, Poland, Sweden, and Denmark.
The plant belongs to the early-maturing group. According to its characteristics, the variety does not possess the high intensity inherent in modern high-yielding hybrids. Studies show the variety's susceptibility to leaf blotch.
Currently, the variety is practically not used in industrial crop production, but it retains significance as valuable genetic material due to its qualitative technological indicators.
