The Patriot variety is a perennial herbaceous plant that is a sport of the Francee hosta. A mature bush reaches 30–70 cm in height and 60–90 cm in width. The leaves are heart-shaped or oval-heart-shaped, the surface may be slightly wavy, the color is dark green with a white margin that takes on a creamy shade in spring.

The plant produces funnel-shaped light lavender flowers collected in raceme inflorescences; the flowering period occurs in July–August. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness, corresponding to USDA hardiness zone 3 (–34...–40 °C), and a preference for shade or partial shade conditions, while demonstrating higher resistance to sunlight than a number of other varieties.

The hosta is used in landscape design for decorating shaded areas, borders, plantings near water bodies, and growing in containers. Like other members of the genus, the variety can be subject to fungal diseases under unfavorable growing conditions.
