The SANTA_LUCIA_64 rootstock is a selection of the species Prunus mahaleb. Its use promotes early bearing and higher yields of grafted trees, while it restricts scion vigor to a level of about 90% compared to standard seedling rootstocks.

The plant demonstrates good adaptability to calcareous soils, but has requirements for soil drainage. This rootstock is widely distributed in the Mediterranean region and is used as a base for cultivating sweet and sour cherry varieties.
