The variety is a hybrid of Prunus persica × Prunus davidiana and is a bud mutation of the Nemaguard rootstock. The plant is used exclusively as a rootstock; the fruits have no nutritional value due to their small size and thin flesh.

The plant possesses characteristic red foliage, which serves as a marker in the nursery. Trees grafted onto this rootstock demonstrate vigorous growth. The rootstock saplings themselves are straight, with a minimal number of lateral branches, which simplifies budding.

The rootstock exhibits high resistance to root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.), but is highly sensitive to bacterial canker. The variety does not tolerate waterlogging and high lime levels in the soil.
