The LARIX rootstock is characterized by good compatibility with various scion varieties, high seed germination, and pronounced hybrid vigor. It facilitates the effective maintenance of a balance between leaf mass development and the fruiting intensity of grafted plants.

The use of this rootstock is aimed at increasing the crop's resistance to a complex of soil infections, including Fusarium wilt and Verticillium wilt. The plant is an interspecific hybrid created using breeding methods involving wild species to impart additional protective properties to the cultivated tomato.
