The plant is a bushy deciduous shrub with broadly ovate dark green serrated leaves with pronounced venation. The inflorescences are of the "mophead" type and consist of petals with a characteristic notch. The color of the inflorescences varies from lilac or deep purple-blue to deep pink depending on the soil composition.

Flowering of the variety occurs from summer to autumn. The plant is used in ornamental gardening for single and group plantings and is also suitable for cut flowers. In specialized literature, the variety is sometimes referred to as an old variety or "heirloom".
