The shrub reaches 1.0–1.3 m in height and width; in container cultivation, dimensions are 50–60 cm. The inflorescences are large, spherical in shape, reaching 25 cm in diameter. The flowering period lasts from June to September-October.

On acidic soils with a pH of less than 4.5, the flowers acquire blue shades; on neutral soils, they turn pink. The plant prefers partial shade and moist, organic-rich soils. The winter hardiness of the variety is rated down to -18°C.

The plant is used for landscaping garden plots, creating borders, and growing in containers. The name is often used in the floral industry as a commercial designation for blue hydrangeas in cut flowers.
