The deciduous shrub reaches a height of 1–2 meters and a width of up to 1.5–2.5 meters. Large dark green leaves have a characteristic shape resembling oak leaves and turn red, purple, or bronze in autumn.

The plant forms large conical inflorescences 25–30 cm long, consisting of double sterile flowers. The flowers are cream-white when opening, and over time they acquire pink and then brown shades.

The variety is winter-hardy and prefers sunny or semi-shaded areas with fertile, moist soil. Flowering occurs on previous year's shoots, so pruning is recommended immediately after flowering ends. Due to large inflorescences, branches may lodge in rainy weather.
