Variety description

The variety originates from Japan, where it is known as «Setsuka-Yae», and was introduced in the USA by the Domoto Nursery. The plant is a double form whose flowers open not simultaneously, but sequentially. A characteristic feature is the fasciation of the stems under the inflorescences, caused by a specific virus fixed in the variety.

The mature bush reaches a height of 1.00 to 1.20 m. The inflorescences have a pink color, the shade of which depends on the soil acidity. The flowering period occurs from July to September. The frost resistance of the plant is estimated as moderate, withstanding temperature drops down to -12°C.

The variety is suitable for cultivation in containers and border plantings. It is valuable as a collector's plant, however, it is not recommended for early forcing.
