Variety description

Shrub is upright, with a rounded or wide-spreading crown. Leaves are large, leathery, oval-shaped, bright green, and may change color to reddish-yellow in autumn. When grown in containers, the plant height is usually 0.4–0.6 m.

Flowers are collected in globose inflorescences up to 20–25 cm in diameter. Flowering occurs from June or July to September on the previous year's shoots. The color of the inflorescences varies from bright pink to red; the variety shows weak sensitivity to soil acidity regarding color change.

Winter hardiness corresponds to zones 5–6, withstanding temperatures down to -23°C; in severe climates, it requires covering to protect flower buds. The plant prefers partial shade, fertile moist soil, and regular watering.
