Deciduous shrub with sturdy branches and glossy green foliage. The plant reaches 1.2–1.8 meters in height and 0.9–1.2 meters in width.

Forms large cap-type inflorescences of red-violet or bright red color. Flowering occurs in summer on previous year's shoots.

The plant is intended for landscape design, solitary plantings, borders, or container cultivation. Hardiness zones 5–9, grows well in partial shade.
