The name river-line brings together a group of Hydrangea macrophylla varieties, which includes such plants as Blaue Donau (synonym Danube Bleu), Colorado (synonym Raco) and Tevere. Since the series includes various varieties, their morphological characteristics differ.

Plants of this series are intended for use in flower beds, containers and landscaping. The varieties are characterized by the general requirements of the species: flowering from early summer to autumn, a preference for sheltered planting sites and a dependence of inflorescence color on soil acidity.
