The variety is a compact, rounded shrub reaching 150 cm in width. The leaves have a characteristic deeply lobed shape similar to oak leaves; they are dark green in summer and turn mahogany-red or purple in autumn.
Upright panicle inflorescences reach 22–25 cm in length. Upon opening, the flowers are white, quickly turn pink, and acquire an intense ruby-red shade by the end of the season. A feature of the variety is the retention of the upright position of the inflorescences even during precipitation.
The plant is recommended for USDA hardiness zones 5–8, prefers moist, fertile soils without excess lime, and can thrive in both sun and partial shade. The species has good general resistance to diseases.
