The variety JOLEX01, known by the trade name Green Diamond, is a form of Ilex crenata. This is a slow-growing evergreen shrub, which, due to its structure, is often used in landscape design as a substitute for boxwood, especially in areas where diseases of the latter are prevalent.

The plant possesses high tolerance to regular pruning, which allows for its use in creating bonsai, topiary shapes, and hedges. Optimal conditions for development include sunny or semi-shaded areas with well-drained soils having a pH level from slightly acidic to neutral.
