Variety description

The variety is a female specimen of Ilex verticillata. The plant is a deciduous shrub with dark stems, upon which clusters of round-oblate berries measuring 1–1.5 cm are densely arranged.
The plant prefers sunny or partially shaded sites and well-drained soils. Male pollinator plants are necessary for full fruit production, as holly is a dioecious crop.
