The variety, also known as G-509 or Geisenheim 509, is a vigorously growing tree with a wide crown. Flowering begins in late April; the flowering type is protandrous. The plant is not self-fertile and requires pollinators for yield formation.

The fruits are large; a characteristic feature is the intense red coloration of the kernel skin. The variety shows relative resistance to late spring frosts. The taste qualities of the fruits are assessed as mild.
