The variety is a mutation (sport) of the Blue Carpet variety. The shrub is distinguished by a spreading growth habit and a wide, flat crown. The cylindrical shoots are arranged horizontally, forming a dense carpet. The needles are scale-like and have a silvery-blue or steel-blue shade.
The plant dimensions are subject to variability: by 10 years of age, the height can range from 0.4 to 0.7 m with a diameter of up to 2 m, while some sources indicate the possibility of reaching a height of up to 1.5 m depending on growing conditions. The variety is characterized by high winter hardiness (zone 4) and is capable of growing in acidic and alkaline soils under sunny conditions.
