The variety Rosny is a butterhead lettuce of the rougette type, characterized by the presence of reddish tints on the leaves. The plant is intended for cultivation under protected soil conditions, with traditional growing periods occurring in the winter-spring season from December to March.

The variety possesses resistance to a number of races of downy mildew Bremia lactucae, including races BL 1–16, 19, 21, and 23. Information regarding the availability of seeds for this variety for professional use is limited in publications dating from the period after 2009.
