This is an evergreen shrub with grey-green foliage. The inflorescences have the shape of dense spike-like cones topped with wing-like bracts. A mature plant reaches a height of 45 cm to 1 m. The flowering period lasts from May to September.
The variety is sensitive to frost and requires well-drained soils, a sunny location, and moderate watering. It possesses resistance to certain pests, including deer, rabbits, and snails. The plant is a honey plant, attracting bees and butterflies, and is used for creating hedges.
