Variety description

The variety is a tetraploid obtained by colchicine treatment of a diploid line of Westerwold ryegrass. The plant is characterized by high growth energy, wide, soft, glossy dark green leaves, and thick stems. In the stand, it has an open bush habit; the seeds are large with strong awns and a weight of 3.8–5.1 mg.

The variety is distinguished by high green mass yield in the late winter and early spring periods, exceeding the performance of oats, barley, and rye, and requires high soil fertility. It has high nutritional value and is resistant to barley yellow dwarf virus, but is susceptible to leaf rust. It is intended for use as a forage crop and for overseeding in legume-dominant swards.
