The Gero Øtofte variety (also referred to as Gero) is a tetraploid form of Italian ryegrass. It was included in official breeding lists and was actively studied in the 1970s–1980s as part of breeding programs in Denmark.

The plant was used primarily in forage production for the formation of pastures and sown meadows. In literature, the variety is found under the alternative name Gero Roskilde, indicating the location of trial sites or breeding centers.
