The variety Lilio is a tetraploid and belongs to the Westerwold ryegrass type. It possesses an alternative growth habit, which allows for sowing during both early and late periods. The plant has an average height, while the fine leaves and stems visually resemble diploid types.

The plant is resistant to lodging and is characterized by a high capacity for regrowth after mowing. The forage production of the variety is distinguished by high protein content with low fiber content, and the mown mass dries quickly, which facilitates hay harvesting.
