Melmia is a tetraploid variety characterized by rapid rooting and development after sowing. The variety belongs to the mid-late maturity group, possesses good lodging resistance and excellent winter hardiness.

The plant demonstrates high dry matter yield, maintaining productivity under both normal conditions and periods of drought. Excellent resistance to rust and high sugar content in the green mass are noted.

The variety is intended for haylage and green forage production, suitable for intensive use with up to 4–6 cuts per season. The crop can be cultivated on various soil types with sufficient moisture; both spring and autumn sowing are permitted.
