The variety belongs to diploid forms and was intended primarily for pasture use. In the period up to 1973, the variety held a leading position in the markets of the UK and Ireland, and also frequently appeared in the agrotechnical literature of that time as a reference sample.

Due to its stability, the variety was used in breeding work, in particular, it was used in combination with the S24 variety to construct genetic maps. The variety possessed relatively high winter hardiness, however, modern descriptors and current commercial data in open sources are absent.
