The variety is a compact evergreen shrub with a prostrate or cushion-like habit. The plant height reaches 10–30 cm with a width of up to 50 cm. The leaves are leathery, rounded in shape, and have a color ranging from ruby-red to purple-violet.

The flowers are fragrant, fringed, and have a bright pinkish-red shade. The main flowering occurs in spring, with a potential second wave in summer. The plant is resistant to heat and drought, tolerating temperature drops down to -10°C (USDA zones 7–10). It prefers fertile, moist, well-drained soils with a neutral or acidic reaction, and grows well in sun or partial shade.

Used as an ornamental groundcover plant, suitable for cultivation in containers, hanging baskets, and for creating low borders.
