The variety is a red mutant of the Jonagold variety. The tree is moderately vigorous, with a spreading crown of medium density, fruiting on short shoots. It is a triploid, which limits its use as a pollinator for other varieties.

The fruits are large or very large, round-conical in shape with smooth skin covered with a red blush. The flesh is yellow, juicy, and aromatic, with a sweet-and-sour taste. If storage conditions are met, the fruits maintain quality until March; in a controlled atmosphere, until May–June.

The variety matures 10–14 days earlier than the original Jonagold variety. It is characterized by low or medium susceptibility to scab and powdery mildew, as well as low susceptibility to bark and wood diseases and fire blight. Frost resistance is rated as low.
