The variety is considered ancient and is used for the production of cider and Calvados. Fresh fruit is rarely consumed due to pronounced bitterness and tannin content. The tree is characterized by precocity and productivity, but is prone to alternate bearing and is self-sterile.

The fruits are small, weighing about 40 g, and have a slightly flattened spherical shape. Upon ripening, the skin color changes from yellow-green to golden-orange; the flesh is creamy white, juicy, and crisp. Harvesting takes place in November.

The variety possesses resistance to scab and tolerance to wind and sea spray, but shows susceptibility to canker and fire blight. In literature, it is sometimes referred to as Bedan des Parts.
